Reading have had a rather inconsistent start to the season, but under new boss Mark Bowen the Royals are starting to find some form.

They have been able to pick up 10 points from their last 12 available to them, and that has seen them move up to 17th in the table.

Bowen hasn't lost yet as manager and there's hope that he can carry on this recent run of form when Reading travel to a strong Brentford side this Saturday.

After the summer transfer window, the Royals formed a very good squad that on paper has the capability of competing at the right end of the Championship table.

However, a poor start saw Jose Gomes sacked as manager and he was replaced by Bowen. Now the Royals have been able to get a lineup that has stayed the same, and has been able to dispatch of fellow Championship division.

The lineup has been the same, apart form one position. That is in the left-wing back position as there are two very good players trying to occupy the same spot.

Reading fans are very happy to have seen this battle go on, as healthy competition only brings out better performances and that has happened at the Madejski Stadium.

The two players who are battling for the position are Jordan Obita and Omar Richards. The latter has come through the youth ranks, but very recently and is full of exuberance and energy.

Obita, on the other hand, has just come back from an awful two-year injury and has been absolutely brilliant since his recovery. He even managed to get on the scoresheet against Millwall, which was his first-ever Reading goal at the Madejski Stadium.

Both have been up to the required standard when they've been played, and it gives Bowen a good type of selection headache when picking his Royals side.

Richards played the last game against Luton, and he was raved about by Reading supporters. It'll be interesting to see who he selects to start the game against Brentford on Saturday, it wouldn't surprise to see him go for the more experienced Obita, before picking Richards in the home game against Leeds on Tuesday.
