Reading have had a rather inconsistent start to the campaign but managed to earn a brilliant victory on Saturday as they beat Wigan 3-1.

It's a result that would have pleased fans, firstly down to the manner of the win and secondly because of who scored the goals for the Royals.

George Puscas managed to net a hat-trick which ended a barren run in front of goal and it would have given him the confidence to go on and really achieve big things for the Royals.

The supporters have stuck with him even though at times the Romanian has been mightily frustrating to watch. He gets into the right positions but hasn't seemed to have that finishing touch that the top strikers in the Championship have.

However, that all changed on Saturday. It was a bold call to allow Puscas to take the penalty that was awarded to the Royals, but he stepped up and slotted home with ease.

That goal in itself seemed to allow Puscas to be free in himself, and he went on to net another two goals as he completed a five minute hat-trick.

It was simply sensational and it meant that the Romanian had actually managed to net the quickest ever hat-trick in Championship history.

For supporters, it was great to see the forward making the most of the chances that he was getting. It's what Reading fans have been crying out for in past seasons, and it looks like with a bit more consistency they may have finally found the striker that will score over 15 goals in a season.

The reason why Royals fans never gave up on the player is because of his movement and ability to be their to at least have the effort on goal. That is something that he's been able to do all season, and his luck has appeared to have changed.

The way the players and coaching staff celebrated with the Romanian after the win shows that there is a real togetherness in the squad, and almost an attitude that said that they'll back the striker during his goalless run.

There's still a long way to go in the season but if the Royals can get Puscas firing on a regular basis, then there's no reason why they can't climb up the Championship table.
