Matt Miazga has sent a message to Reading fans on social media returning to the club on a season-long loan from Chelsea.

The 24-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Reading, making 18 appearances for the Royals in the Championship.

The centre-back established himself as a key player for Jose Gomes' side and became a fans' favourite at the Madejski Stadium, as Reading retained their Championship status.

The defender has sent a message to Reading fans on social media on his return to the club, admitting that he is excited to be back and that he cannot wait for the start of the new season.

"I'm excited to be back at the Madejski Stadium. I'm excited for the new season ahead and to play in front of you amazing supporters. Let's start strong and I look forward to seeing you soon," Miazga said.

Miazga has made two appearances for Chelsea in the Premier League since joining the Blues from New York Red Bulls in January 2016 and has had loan spells with Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem and French outfit Nantes.

Reading will face Sheffield Wednesday at the Madejski Stadium on the opening day of the new Championship season, where Miazga will be hoping to be involved.

The Verdict

Miazga was a key player for Reading during the second half of last season and I'm sure fans at the Madejski Stadium will be absolutely delighted that the club have been able to secure his services for another season.

The USA international was a key player for the Royals and played an integral role as they retained their Championship status for another year.

The defender clearly enjoyed his time at Reading last season and seems determined to make an impact next term, when the Royals will be hoping to challenge further up the table.
