Championship strugglers Reading could be set to make a move for former Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce.

According to the Sun on Sunday, print edition, Sunday 28th October 2018, the Royals could turn to the 57-year-old to replace under pressure manager Paul Clement, who is coming under increased scrutiny for his work so far.

Bruce, who was only sacked by Villa last month with Dean Smith taking over his role at Villa Park, would no doubt be keen on a return to football and could well relish the challenge of taking over a club like Reading, who are looking League One bound unless something changes at the club.

Reading will be desperate for an experienced head to come in and take over the reigns at the Madjeski Stadium, and it only seems a matter of time before current manager Clement is sent on his way after yet another failed deluge into management.

Bruce, who has had success with Hull and Birmingham in the past, would be a wise choice for the Royals it would seem as they look to maintain their Championship status.

The verdict

This would be quite the capture for Reading if they can indeed snaffle Bruce.

Clement's time is up at Reading, he has proved time and again he cannot be a manager at the top levels, and Reading need to act fast to secure this deal before it's too late
