Reading are said to be making swift movements to securing a deal to bring Nelson Oliveira to the Madejski Stadium, according to HITC Sport.

It is also understood that the Portuguese international's medical is imminent and a move could be announced in the near future.

This will put to bed one of the longest running transfer rumours that Reading fans have had to witness, as Oliveira seems to be linked with a move to the club almost every transfer window.

The forward is yet to me an appearance for the Norwich first-team this season which is understandable given his well documented disciplinary problems.

But a move to Reading would be a major coup for the Royals as they battle to stay in the Championship this season, with Jose Gomes' side currently in the relegation zone.

The 27-year-old certainly has a point to prove this season, after being frozen out of Daniel Farke's plans and he could be the man that Reading need to ease their relegation fears this year.

The Royals have won just one of their last 13 games, but have certainly showed signs of improvement under Gomes, and if anyone can get the best out of Oliveira, then Gomes is certainly the man to do it.

The Verdict:

This is exactly what Reading have been crying out for this season.

The Royals need a goalscorer, and Oliveira has already proven that he can score goals on a regular basis in the Championship in his career.

He is out of favour with Norwich, and if he can impress out on loan with Reading, then Jose Gomes will surely be tempted to make his loan move, a permanent one.
