It's safe to say that Paul Clement is a man under pressure at Reading at the moment, and with questions being asked about his future as manager, a new potential replacement is reportedly being lined up.

The DailyMail have recently reported that former Swansea and Sheffield Wednesday manager, Carlos Carvalhal, is being lined up to replace under-fire Clement at the Madejski Stadium.

Carvalhal has been out of work since he left relegated Swansea City when they dropped down to the Championship, so many fans will be surprised that he is even being considered for the job at the struggling Royals.

Reading are currently sat 20th in the Championship table, and many fans will hope that a new manager could potentially guide them further up the table.

There was some reason's to cheer for Reading fans yesterday, as it was announced that Chief Executive, Ron Gourlay had left the club, which ended a torrid spell for the former Chelsea man in Berkshire.

Gourlay was largely at fault for the downfall of the club, and many Royals fans will be pleased to see the back of him.

It remains to be seen as to how much longer Clement has in charge of the relegation strugglers, but a defeat to Wigan this weekend, could seal his fate.

With the owners watching on, Carvalhal could be top of their list as they look into potential replacements for Clement at Reading.

The Verdict:

This potential appointment wouldn't come as a surprise to me, as Carvalhal is proven at Championship level and will be keen to reignite his career which has struggled in recent seasons.

Reading boss, Paul Clement is rightfully receiving criticism as his side continue to fight against relegation, when they have the potential in their squad to be challenging for a top six spot, just like they were a couple of seasons ago.

Carvalhal would be a sensible appointment, and I certainly feel as though he could do a better job than Clement currently is doing at the Madejski Stadium.
