Reading FC have agreed a £1.25m deal to sign Modou Barrow from Swansea City, according to Sky Sports News HQ.

Modou Barrow is now negotiating personal terms with Reading ahead of his possible permanent switch to the Madejski Stadium.

Swansea City are ready to let Barrow leave the club on a permanent basis after he fell down the pecking order in South Wales.

The six-cap Gambia international spent the second half of last season on loan at promotion chasing Leeds United but struggled to make an impact at Elland Road.

However, this has not dissuaded Reading from making a swoop this summer as they look to improve their attacking midfield options.

Reading's bid of £1.25m has been accepted by Swansea City as the move edges closer.

Swans boss Paul Clement does not see Barrow in his future plans and is ready to let the former Ostersunds FK winger leave the club.

The 24-year-old joined the South Wales outfit in 2014 but failed to make an impact during his three loan spells in the Championship (at Blackburn Rovers, Nottingham Forest and Leeds United).

Barrow plays predominantly as a winger but has also played up front, meaning that his versatility could give Jaap Stam more options in the attacking regions.

Renowned for his pace, Barrow has often been criticised for his end product and has just one goal and five assists to show in over 50 Premier League games.
