Reading have opted against signing IFK Gothenburg striker Lasse Vibe, according to Get Reading.

The striker was the top scorer in Sweden last season finding the net 19 times in 22 appearances, an incredible strike rate.

Vibe is an incredibly quick player who is attracting interest from all over Europe, but it remains to be seen whether he departs the club this summer for pastures new.

Reading had two bids rejected for the Denmark international in January and could not go any higher than their second bid, with Financial Fair Play breathing down their necks.

It now seems Royals boss Steve Clarke, who said if he could only sign two players this summer they would both be strikers, has ruled out making the 28-year-old part of his strike force revolution.

Gothenburg want £2 million for their star player, who has also been linked with Swansea City, and plenty of clubs in France and Germany, despite rejecting a big money move to China in January.

Championship outfit Reading had a terrible season this year, finishing in 19th in the division, accumulating 50 points.
