Mark Bowen has been giving his thoughts on Reading's young striker Danny Loader, after the 19-year-old was linked with a move to Manchester United in the past week.

It was reported on Monday that Manchester United were among one of several Premier League sides considering a move for Loader this January, which could cause disruption to the player and Reading Football Club.

Wolves also swooped in to tempt the 19-year-old to Molineux in the summer transfer window, before their attempt fell through on deadline day.

Loader was part of the England under-20 side that beat Iceland in midweek, also getting on the scoresheet.

The striker has made four appearances for his club this season, most recently coming off the bench in Reading's 3-0 win against Luton Town at the Madejski Stadium.

Reading's manager was facing the media ahead of The Royals' trip to Griffin Park on Saturday and had his say on the recent developments about his 19-year-old striker.

"I’ve heard nothing about the speculation. He’s back tomorrow and scored for England this week. You expect him to attract attention," Bowen said.

The Verdict

It is possible that Bowen has, in fact, heard the speculation surrounding his young striker, but has failed to acknowledge it in the press conference.

Considering the attempt that Wolves made to sign Loader in the summer, it may become incredibly difficult for Reading to keep a hold of the 19-year-old, especially if Manchester United have joined the race.

For now, however, Loader needs to focus on his football with Reading ahead of the busy festive schedule.
