Reading’s Ovie Ejaria has spoke about his goal against Luton Town last Saturday, and his partnership with John Swift in midfield.

Mark Bowen’s fine start to his Reading tenure continued into the November international break, after a 3-0 win at home to Luton Town in the Championship last weekend.

It was arguably Reading’s best performance under Bowen, who after four games have picked up 10 points in an unbeaten start to life in football management for their former Sporting Director.

Goals from Michael Morrison, Ovie Ejaria and Gareth McCleary secured the win at the Madejski, but it’s Ejaria who’s the star of the show this season.

His third goal of the season to match his two assists, Ejaria told Reading’s official club website today:

“It’s something I’ve been trying to do for a few years now, get more goals and assists. I made that run and I know Swifty is capable of playing that pass.”

Swift set-up Reading’s first two goals on Saturday, taking his assists tally to six for the season, with two goals to add to that.

He and Ejaria have formed a nice partnership in midfield for the Royals, and speaking about that, Ejaria said:

“He’s a top player and he’s on the same wavelength as me, he makes it easier. I really enjoy playing with him and the rest of the team."

The verdict

Both Swift and Ejaria have been their club’s main outlets this season. The duo have formed a prolific understanding in the middle of the pitch, and will be key to Bowen going forward this season.

At only 21-years-old, Ejaria has a bright future in the game and with Swift producing the goods, he could have a fine season in-front of goal.

Reading’s main objective this season will still be to secure their Championship status for next season, and they’ll have to be at their best to maintain their unbeaten record at Brentford in two weeks time.
