Reading's Ivorian striker Yakou Meite has stated the importance of returning to winning ways as The Royals take on Wigan Athletic tomorrow afternoon at the DW Stadium.

Narrow 1-0 defeats to Brentford and Leeds United respectively have seen The Royals suffer back to back losses under Mark Bowen for the first time.

Reading will be looking to respond in a positive fashion against The Latics, as the Berkshire side look to steer clear of the relegation zone.

Speaking to the club website, the 23-year-old made it clear that gaining a positive result against the Lancashire side is the only thing the players are thinking about.

"Our mentality is strong. We don't think about where we are in the table at the moment, we just think about winning games - that is the most important thing at the moment, then we'll see where we are in the table later," he said.

The Ivory Coast international also stated that the team are keen to bounce back after recent disappointments.

"We hope we can win this game because it's very important for us to win after two losses."

The 23-year-old has featured on thirteen occasions this season for Reading in the Championship, scoring twice for the Berkshire side.

The Verdict

It is clear that Mark Bowen has instilled a belief in his players, and they will be fired up to achieve a positive result on Saturday, against a fellow relegation threatened side in Wigan.

Meite started Reading's recent game against Leeds, but has failed to find the net since their 4-1 loss to Fulham on October 1st - a run of six league games without a goal for the striker.
