Chris Hughton's Brighton & Hove Albion continued their fine start to the season with a victory over struggling Blackburn Rovers.

Hughton has overseen a bright start to the Seagulls' season

Kazenga Lua Lua's goal in the 35th minute secured a third victory from their opening four games  in the Championship.

Here are three things we learned from the match:

1. Brighton are a much better side than last season

Last summer, Brighton changed their manager and lost two key players in Leonardo Ulloa and Will Buckley to Premier League sides and they struggled as a result.

This summer, Hughton has been allowed to add some quality to his squad and the impact it has had is clear as Brighton find themselves second in the Championship, only behind Ipswich on goal difference.

Before last season, Brighton were one of the better sides in the second tier under Gus Poyet and Oscar Garcia. Now they have a proven manager in this division, they will be hoping to regain that status and be challenging for the play-offs again.

2. Blackburn are lacking quality

Gary Bowyer definitely will not look back fondly on the summer of 2015.

He has lost key players of last year's squad in Tom Cairney and Rudy Gestede, and there are also ongoing rumours over the futures of Jordan Rhodes and captain Grant Hanley.

As a result of the transfer embargo placed on them, Blackburn have had to make do with free agents and loan players.

They have replaced last season's top goal scorer Gestede with Nathan Delfouneso, a player who has never realised his potential despite having many opportunities.

Although it is difficult to add players with an embargo, Rovers just have not done enough to replace the talent they have lost this summer.

3. Rovers lacking that killer instict

Although Brighton dominated the majority of the game, Blackburn did have 12 attempts on goal with five of them being on target to the Seagulls' two.

With Gestede gone and Jordan Rhodes injured, Blackburn started the game with Delfouneso and his fellow new signing Bengali-Fode Koita and neither were particularly impressive in front of goal.

While keeper David Stockdale deserves credit for some top saves, Blackburn really should have scored with 12 attempts.

Gary Bowyer will need to do something, and quick, to address this as they cannot rely on Rhodes to score goals all season.
