Derby County extended their unbeaten run to four matches last night with a draw against Luton Town - but they will be left feeling frustrated that it wasn't a victory.

After failing to find the back of the net against Preston North End on Saturday when they arguably should have been on the winning side, the Rams led twice against the Hatters thanks to goals from Tom Lawrence and Jason Knight.

Wayne Rooney's side held on until the 83rd minute though when the towering Elijah Adebayo equalised to make sure that there was a share of the spoils on the night between Nathan Jones' side and a thread-bare County team.

One of Derby's summer signings they were allowed to make was Ravel Morrison, who has failed to settle in the last few years at any club after being highly-rated as a youngster at Manchester United.

Rooney has taken the Jamaica international under his wing though and has shown faith in him - Morrison is a regular starter at Pride Park and played 74 minutes in midfield last night.

Morrison showed his frustration on social media following the late setback but has issued a rallying cry to make sure that everyone is onside with the goal of getting out of the relegation zone as soon as possible.

The Verdict

It may be surprising to some that Derby are on a decent run of form and Wayne Rooney is clearly getting the best out of his thin squad.

Morrison is one of those players who was picked up off the scrap-heap so to speak in the summer and it's clear that he just needed an arm round him and for someone to show a bit of faith in him.

The goal contributions may not show it but Morrison looks right at home in Derby's midfield, and if he can just get on the scoresheet a bit more often then it would help their cause massively.

Derby's fans have taken to the 28-year-old very well though and he's definitely playing his way into a contract extension beyond this season if he continues his fine work.
