Former Anderlecht boss Rene Weiler is reportedly on Sheffield Wednesday’s shortlist of potential new managers, which has drawn an interesting reaction from fans of the Yorkshire club.
The search for a new boss has been ongoing since Tony Pulis was sacked after just 45 days in charge in December, with club coach Neil Thompson currently the caretaker manager.
According to Yorkshire Live, Weiler is one of the names on the Owls’ shortlist of permanent replacements for Pulis.
The Swiss coach has a good record in management, particularly in recent years.
He won the Jupiler Pro League title and Belgian Supercup with Anderlecht in 2016/17, while he got his hands on four trophies during his spell with Egyptian side Al Ahly – winning the Premier League, Super Cup, Egypt Cup, and CAF Champions League.
Weiler also has experience working at clubs with a low budget, something that is likely to be useful at Hillsborough given the recent financial issues the club has faced.
Can you name each of these 17 ex-Sheffield Wednesday players just by looking at these 3 clues?
The 47-year-old is one of a number of foreign coaches to be linked with taking charge of the Yorkshire club recently and his potential arrival has caused an interesting reaction from many supporters.
