Once again, this looks set to be a busy summer transfer window for Blackburn Rovers.

Having only seen a long list of players leave the club, to be replaced by a new intake last summer, there are now another significant number of players who could be set to depart Ewood Park this summer, when either their contracts or loan deals with Rovers expire.

That of course, means that manager Tony Mowbray could be set to have his work cut out, at he looks to bring in the right replacements for those who exit the club, in order to ensure he has a squad that can be competitive next season.

But just how have some of Mowbray's previous Blackburn recruits fared during their time at Ewood Park?

Here, we've taken a look at the nine players, who we believe are the best signing that Mowbray has made during his time in charge of Rovers.

We start this list with a player whose breakthrough has been one of the unexpected positives for Blackburn this season, in the shape of Tyrhys Dolan.

Having joined Rovers initially with the view of linking up with their Under 23s side following his release from Preston this summer, the 18-year-old's pre-season performances saw him rapidly promoted to the first-team for the start of the campaign.

The teenager has since become a constant figure in the Rovers matchday squad, scoring three goals and providing two assists in 34 league appearances, and it was no surprise to see him handed a new long-term contract at Ewood Park earlier this year.

Rovers have had good form when it comes to successful loan signings under Mowbray, one of which was Harrison Reed.

The midfielder joined Blackburn from Southampton following the club's promotion back to the Championship in the summer of 2018, and produced an excellent 2018/19 campaign for Rovers, scoring three times in 36 appearances, while his ability to play in a variety of positions proved vital while at Ewood Park.

Fulham then swooped for Reed on loan for 2019/20, making his move permanent after he helped them win promotion to the Premier League, where it is no surprise that his tenacity on the pitch has seen him flourish in Scott Parker's side as they battle to avoid relegation.

There were more than a few eyebrows raised when Rovers signed the then 35-year-old Stewart Downing following his release from Middlesbrough in the summer of 2019.

However, the former England international's debut campaign at Ewood Park was an excellent one, as he became a regular and important figure in Mowbray's side, not least thanks to his versatility that saw him cope reliably with having to cover in a variety of positions, all of which he did reliably.

It was therefore no surprise to see Blackburn bring him back for the current campaign, and although things haven't been quite as successful, there have still been flashes of brilliance that have led to some crucial moments for the club.

Another loan player who certainly made an impression under Mowbray at Ewood Park, is Tosin Adarabioyo.

The centre back spent last season on loan at Ewood Park from Manchester City, and after a slow start to the campaign, flourished into a key, and indeed popular, figure at the heart of Rovers' defence, with his quality on the ball becoming more and more obvious throughout the course of the campaign.

That earned him his chance in the Premier League this season, with the defender completing a permanent move to Fulham back in the summer transfer window, with the 23-year-old earning a considerable amount of praise for some of his performances for Scott Parker's side.

Rothwell joined Blackburn from League One Oxford United back in the summer of 2018, following Rovers' immediate promotion back to the Championship.

Although there can be no denying he is somewhat inconsistent with his performances, it is hard to argue with the suggestion that, on his day, Rothwell can be a big a threat as any at this level when it comes to running from deep with the ball at his feet.

As a result, it is no huge surprise that Rovers are keen to secure a new deal for him through to next season, with his current contract drawing to a close, given how big an asset he could be for them if they play to his full ability on a regular basis.

The loan market is one that Blackburn have used to their advantage this season as well, and none more so, than when it comes to Harvey Elliott.

Having joined Rovers on a temporary basis back on deadline day in the summer transfer window, the Liverpool youngster has been an outstanding addition to Tony Mowbray's side, scoring six goals and providing 11 assists - a tally on bettered by Norwich's Emiliano Buendia as things stand.

It is perhaps not surprising therefore, that the teenager is being talked about for a role in Jurgen Klopp's side back at Anfield next season, and after his contributions this season, there will be plenty of Blackburn watching out for him with a great deal of interest.

With both of their senior goalkeepers having left the club at the end of last season, Blackburn had to get their recruitment right between the posts in the summer, and they certainly did that with Thomas Kaminski.

Joining Rovers from Gent in his native Belgium, Kaminski has been nothing short of a revelation at Ewood Park, with a string of commanding performances and spectacular saves that already have him on the way to cult figure status at the club.

Indeed, that has also seen the 28-year-old force his way back into the Belgium, and while he is yet to be capped at senior international level, there are plenty of Rovers fans who ought to be desperate to see him given such an opportunity, in recognition of his contribution to the club this season.

Armstrong was no stranger to Mowbray when he arrived on loan from Newcastle in January 2018, having previously enjoyed a season under him on loan at Coventry.

After helping fire Rovers to promotion during that loan spell, the striker's move to Ewood was made permanent in the summer of 2018, and despite a tricky first season in the Championship, he has been excellent ever since.

The 24-year-old has stepped in brilliantly in the injury enforced absence of Bradley Dack over the past year-and-a-half, netting 20 goals this season alone to help prevent Blackburn being dragged into a serious relegation battle, and it is no surprise to rumours of Premier League interest emerging in the man fondly known around Ewood Park as The Angel of the North.

Joining Blackburn in the summer of 2017 following their relegation to League One, Dack was one of the first signings Mowbray made at Ewood Park, and for many, he is still the best.

Having claimed the club, and the league's, Player of the Season award after guiding the club to an immediate promotion back to the Championship, Dack instantly settled in to life in the second-tier, finishing Rovers' first season back at that level as the club's top scorer.

Injuries have of course blighted him to a devastating extent during the past season-and-a-half, but he never the less still possesses a hugely impressive record in Blackburn colours, having scored 49 goals and provided 22 assists in 131 appearances in all competitions for the club.
