Barnsley are on track for a truly memorable campaign.

The Tykes narrowly avoided relegation last season and so coming into this term it was expected that they were be battling away at the bottom end of the table once again.

That couldn't be further from the truth.

Valerien Ismael's side are enjoying a wonderful campaign and are sitting comfortably in the play-off spots as we approach the 46-game mark.

Given that they have a significant buffer on seventh-place Reading it seems almost certain that the Tykes will be in the battle to go up at the end of the season.

Much of that is down to the effort of the players who have established themselves over recent seasons, but which players are the club's longest-serving stars?

Here are the top 10 ranked by date of arrival.

The central defender comes in at number 10 on our list.

Andersen arrived at the club on July 1 2019 after Barnsley struck a deal with AC Horsens to bring him to Oakwell.

Since then there's no doubt that the Danish defender has been one of the club's top performers after establishing himself as a first team regular at the club.

Andersen has made 90 appearances for the club so far and with a contract that runs for another two years there's every chance that he'll at least double that tally.

Another player arrived on July 1 2019.

The goalkeeper came through the youth ranks with Chelsea and enjoyed a season on loan with Burton Albion before completing his permanent switch to Oakwell almost two years ago.

Since then Collins has established himself as a reliable player for the first team spot.

While unable to nail down the number one jersey long-term, the 24-year-old has still managed 46 appearances for the club in that time.

With two years left on his deal there's every chance that he'll be able to add to his time at the club.

The young forward completed a permanent move to Barnsley in January 2019 after spending his youth career with Middlesbrough and Bury.

At just 22 years of age Miller still has his best years ahead of him and so has struggled to really crack the first team set-up at Oakwell.

In his time at the club the striker has made eight first team appearances for the club, as well as making 19 appearances during a loan spell with Scunthorpe United.

Miller has just one more year on his deal with the club and you'd imagine that it'll go a long way to deciding if he'll have a long-term future at the club.

The forward comes in at number seven on our list.

Woodrow moved to Barnsley on 3rd January 2019 after leaving Fulham in search of more regular first team opportunities.

Since then there's no doubting that the striker has established himself as a big player for the Tykes.

In almost two and a half seasons, Woodrow has made 124 appearances for the club and scored 47 goals for Barnsley along the way, establishing himself as one of the club's most consistent attacking forces.

At 26 years of age there's plenty more to come from Woodrow and I'm sure that Barnsley will be keen to be ones to get that from him.

The young full-back comes in at number six on our list.

Williams arrived on 8th August 2018 after leaving Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town in search of more regular first team football.

Since then the 21-year-old has established himself as one of the top talents in the Barnsley squad.

Williams has made 71 appearances for Barnsley since joining the club three years ago, and having signed a new deal last year it seems like his long-term future could be with the club.

It'll be interesting to see what the next few years have in store for him.

The attacking midfielder first moved to Barnsley on August 6th 2018 after leaving former club Bury.

After spending a year on loan with his boyhood club Styles wasted little time in pushing towards the first team set-up at Oakwell - a place where he's now more than accustomed.

Despite being just 21 years of age, Styles has made 70 appearances for the Tykes and is now regarded as a key player for Valerien Ismael's side.

There's no doubting that Styles has been central to the club's push for promotion this season and the challenge this summer will surely be on ensuring that he sticks around amid the undoubted interest that will follow him.

Coming in at number four is Victor Adeboyejo.

The striker moved to Oakwell in November 2017 after leaving former club Leyton Orient earlier that year.

Since moving to the club the 23-year-old has spent time on loan with both Bristol Rovers and Cambridge United before establishing himself in the first team fold in South Yorkshire.

Adeboyejo has now made 64 appearances for Barnsley in total, but with his contract said to be expiring this summer it remains to be seen whether he'll be able to add many more appearances to his Tykes tally.

Number three on the list is full-back Ben Williams.

After coming through the youth ranks with Blackburn Rovers the defender moved to Barnsley in the summer of 2017 on a free transfer.

Since then the 23-year-old made 15 appearances in his first season with the club and 21 appearances in his second season, however more recently he's really struggled with a serious cruciate ligament injury.

Williams has another year left on his deal and you'd imagine that his long-term future at the club will depend on how his recovery goes from such a serious injury.

Number two on the list is Jack Walton.

The goalkeeper came through the youth ranks with Barnsley having joined the first team set-up on July 1 2017.

Since then the 23-year-old has done really well to establish himself as a key player within the senior ranks at Oakwell.

Walton has made 43 appearances for the club since his debut, including 24 which have come during this first half of this campaign.

While he's lost his place more recently, there's a feeling that there could still be a long-term future for Walton at the club.

Who else would it be at number one?

Mowatt joined Barnsley on January 29th 2017 after leaving Leeds United where he spent his formative years.

Since then it's safe to say that the central midfielder and club captain hasn't looked back.

As well as enjoying a loan spell with Oxford United, Mowatt has made 159 appearances for Barnsley in which he's scored 20 times and created 23 more.

Mowatt is out of contract this summer though, and supporters will be praying that the club's talisman looks to stay at the club longer term.
