St Mirren are enjoying a very solid season in the Scottish Premier League with Jim Goodwin’s side having made a lot of progress throughout the campaign.

The aim will now be for them to have as strong an end to the season as possible with them safe from any relegation danger and there is still a realistic chance that they could end up in the top half of the division. That would represent an excellent season in the league for the club and show that they have progressed from last term where they finished in 9th place in the table.

The summer transfer window will be important for them and they will need to hang on to some of their better players to avoid losing the progress they have managed to make throughout the season. While they will also need to continue to add wisely to the squad where they can.

While we wait to see what St Mirren do during the rest of the campaign, here we have put together a list of the club’s top 10 best ever managers according to points per game (since three points was introduced for a win in Scotland in 1994). Click ‘next’ to scroll through this list.

Coming in at tenth place on this list is John Coughlin, who makes this list having managed to secure 13 wins, 16 draws and 24 defeats in his 53 games in charge of St Mirren. That leaves him with 1.01 points per game.

Coughlin was appointed manager of St Mirren in September 2002 and he guided the club to a seventh-placed finish in the First Division in his first season in charge. However, he left the club in November 2003 after results had dropped off at the start of the 2003/04 campaign.

Coming in at ninth place on this list is Gary Teale, who managed to secure seven wins and one draw and also suffered 15 losses from his 23 games in charge which leaves him with 1.07 points per game.

Teale took over as manager in December 2014, but he was unable to keep the club in the Scottish Premier League with then finishing bottom of the table. He then left the club in May 2015.
