Southampton have very much had a season of two halves this year in the Premier League.

Form was pretty competitive in the first half of the campaign but things have tailed off badly since then and they'll be looking to just try and finish on a positive note in the final weeks of the campaign.

Who are the top ten managers points per game wise at the club, though? We use transfermarkt's records to have a look - a caveat being that we've left out managers with incomplete records like legend Lawrie McMenemy.

Sturrock only managed 13 matches in charge of Southampton with a points per game of 1.31.

Rumours that the dressing room was not particularly happy with him and the board for that matter, too, meant he was soon gone in 2004.

Gordon Strachan is ninth on our list with him the man in charge before Sturrock.

He was at the club between 2001 and 2004 with an FA Cup final and UEFA Cup qualification achieved during his time there.

105 games in charge yielded a PPG of 1.31.

Ralph Hasenhuttl is up next with a PPG of 1.34 from 103 so far.

He's had his ups and downs as Saints boss during his time at the club but will be hoping to rediscover that form from the start of this campaign in the weeks to come.

The Austrian was at Red Bull Leipzig previously.

Claude Puel managed 53 matches as Southampton boss and earned a points per game of 1.38.

The Frenchman arrived from Nice in 2016 and moved to Leicester City in 2017, before leaving the Foxes in 2019.

He is now the St Etienne manager back in France.

Glenn Hoddle had a PPG of 1.45 from 49 games as the Southampton manager.

Hoddle was seen by many as a tactical innovator during his time as a manager and his spell with England saw them excite but ultimately fall short at France '98.

Saints were on course for their highest Premier League finish at the time when he left towards the end of the 00/01 season.

Pochettino would record a PPG of 1.45 from his 60 matches in charge of the men from St Mary's.

Pochettino was little known as a manager in this country when he arrived at the Saints, though he did have a fine career as a player.

However, he soon became one of the top managers in England, moving to Spurs in due course.

He's now at PSG.

George Burley earned a PPG of 1.55 over 95 matches during his time at the club between 2005 and 2008.

He made the Championship play-offs in 06/07 with Saints but they could not return to the Premier League via that route, with Derby County winning out.

Ronald Koeman enjoyed real success at Southampton and he is third in our list.

He had a PPG of 1.64 over 91 Saints games before moving on to the likes of Everton and the Netherlands.

He's now the Barcelona manager and is looking to restore them to the top of the European game - though that won't happen this season now.

Nigel Adkins succeeded Alan Pardew as manager of Saints in 2010 and the 10/11 season was really where it all began for him.

His positive nature is now being employed by Charlton as they look to escape League One, with Southampton doing exactly that under Adkins and then getting to the Premier League.

He has a PPG of 1.82 from 124 games.

Alan Pardew tops our list.

The former Crystal Palace player has perhaps been met with derision at times during his managerial days but he certainly did a decent enough job with the Saints.

A PPG of 1.83 was achieved in 59 games with Saints winning the EFL Trophy in 2010.
