AFC Bournemouth have had their fair share of players that have proven to be a success with the club since signing from outside of England.

The Cherries will be targeting promotion back into the Premier League at the first time of asking under the management of Jonathan Woodgate.

They're well-placed to do just that, with Bournemouth currently sat seventh in the Championship table, although they have a game in hand over sixth-placed Reading.

Bournemouth beat Blackburn Rovers 2-0 in their most recent match, which means that they've now won their last three matches in the second-tier, as they hit a good run of form at the ideal time, with just seven matches remaining in their 2020/21 league campaign.

We take a look at the top-ten best ever foreign Bournemouth imports, but do you agree with these suggestions or not?

Dani Rodrigues is the first name on the list at number ten, with the former AFC Bournemouth midfielder spending two years with the club.

The Portuguese-born winger started his career with Feirense in the late 90s, but moved to Bournemouth 2004 after a brief spell with Yeovil Town.

He went on to make over 50 appearances for the Cherries, and scored six goals in his time with the club, before departing in 2006, as he moved to New Zealand Knights.

Rodrigues was playing his football in League One at the time with Bournemouth, and was a regular in the team in the third-tier, before they started moving up the Football League pyramid.

Lys Mousset is ninth on the list, with the Frenchman signing for Bournemouth back in 2016.

The striker went on to make 71 appearances in total for the Cherries, but struggled to score on a consistent basis, which will have been frustrating for all parties involved.

He left the club in favour of a move to Sheffield United in 2019, but has again, has found regular goals hard to come by, with the Blades facing relegation into the Championship this term.

Mousset has made just ten appearances this term for the Blades, but has only managed to score six goals in total for them, as they sit bottom of the Premier League table.

Asmir Begovic is next on the list, with the Bosnian goalkeeper signing permanently for Bournemouth back in 2017.

The shot-stopper had previously impressed with the likes of Stoke City and Chelsea earlier in his career, before moving to the Vitality Stadium.

Begovic has gone on to make 112 appearances in total for the club, and will be eager to play his part in their bid for promotion into the Premier League this term under the management of Jonathan Woodgate.

The goalkeeper has made 42 appearances in all competitions this term, and will be hoping to retain his spot in the starting XI for the remainder of this year's campaign.

Max Gradel is next up, with the winger making 64 appearances for AFC Bournemouth in total.

He first signed for the club back in 2007, whilst on loan from Leicester City. Gradel made a positive impact with the Cherries in that loan spell, before returning to the King Power Stadium.

Gradel then went on to have spells with Leeds United and French side Saint-Étienne, before re-signing for Bournemouth in 2015 whilst they were in the Premier League.

The Ivorian found regular game time hard to come by with them in his two seasons with the club though, and departed permanently in 2018, as Gradel moved to Toulouse after impressing in a loan spell in the previous season.

Benik Afobe is next up, with the former AFC Bournemouth forward signing for the club back in 2016.

Afobe had previously been on the books with Arsenal as a youngster, but made a positive impact with the likes of Huddersfield Town and Reading in loan spells earlier in his career.

But he moved to the Vitality Stadium in 2016, and spent three seasons with the Cherries whilst they were playing their football in the Premier League.

Afobe left the club in 2018 after Wolves opted to make his loan spell a permanent one, before quickly selling him to Championship side Stoke City. He is currently out on loan with Turkish side Trabzonspor.

Jefferson Lerma is sixth on the list, with the AFC Bournemouth midfielder signing for the club back in 2018.

Lerma was born in Columbia, and played his football for Athletic Huila early into his career, before earning a move to Europe with Spanish side Levante in 2016 after impressing in a loan spell with the club in the previous season.

The midfielder's strong performances didn't go unnoticed though, as Bournemouth signed him in 2018, whilst they were playing their football in the Premier League.

Lerma has made 40 appearances in total for the Cherries, and has been a regular in the starting XI this season, as they target promotion back into the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Artur Boruc is the first name in the top five on the list, with the Polish international signing for AFC Bournemouth in 2014 in a loan spell from Southampton.

The goalkeeper was a regular in the Bournemouth starting XI in his first season, and he played a key role in the club's promotion-winning campaign in his first year with the club.

That prompted the Cherries to sign him on a permanent deal at the end of the 2014/15 season, and Boruc went on to become a regular in the team from then on in the top-flight.

He struggled for game time towards the end of his time with the club, and departed in 2020, and his now playing his football back in Poland with Legia Warsaw.

Yann Kermorgant is the first name in the top three, with the Frenchman making over 60 appearances for Bournemouth, in a hugely impressive spell with the club.

Kermorgant signed for the Cherries back in 2014, after a spell with Charlton Athletic, and it's safe to say that the forward never looked back after arriving at the Vitality Stadium.

The striker netted 27 goals in total with Bournemouth, which included 17 goals in the club's promotion-winning season in the 2014/15 campaign.

Kermorgant left Bournemouth in 2016 as he moved to Berkshire-based Reading, where he went on to impress with the Royals, just as he did with Bournemouth.

Josh King narrowly misses out on top spot, with the Norwegian international signing for the club in 2015 after a spell with Blackburn Rovers.

The forward spent the early stages of his career with Premier League giants Manchester United, before leaving Old Trafford in 2013.

King went on to impress in the Premier League with Bournemouth, and made 184 appearances, whilst scoring 53 goals in total for the Cherries, before leaving the club in January 2021.

He went on to sign for Everton, and has since gone on to make eight appearances so far for the Toffees in all competitions this term, with Carlo Ancelotti's side sat eighth in the top-flight standings.

Nathan Ake is top of the list, with the Dutch international signing permanently for AFC Bournemouth in 2017. He had previously been on the books with Chelsea earlier in his career, but impressed with the likes of Reading and Watford whilst on loan from the Premier League side.

The defender signed for Bournemouth later down the line though, and caught the eye with a number of impressive performances in his time at the Vitality Stadium.

Those strong performances evidently didn't go unnoticed though, with Manchester City making their move to sign him in () for a fee of £40.77million.

Ake has gone on to make nine appearances in total for Pep Guardiola's side this season, in a league campaign that has been disrupted with injuries.
