The arrival of Neil Warnock earlier this week was something of a shock move by Middlesbrough but it certainly boosts their survival hopes.

It's been a hugely frustrating season for Boro, who will have been hoping to mount another promotion push but have been battling at the wrong end of the Championship.

The North East club were a Premier League side three seasons ago but could be heading into League One at the end of the current campaign.

With the help of Transfermarkt, we've been looking at their squad and have outlined the SEVEN players whose market value has dropped the most since their debut...

The defender joined Boro from Birmingham City in August 2017 and has been a regular in the first team since.

The 31-year-old's value has dropped from £2.25 million to £2.16 million since his debut in September 2017, perhaps understandable given his age.

A recent recruit, the 26-year-old shot-stopper joined the club in January and only made his debut in March.

It appears his brief spell at the Riverside has had a negative impact on his value, however, which has dropped from £810,000 to £653,000.

Another January signing, the forward joined on loan from Manchester City in January after spending the first half of the season with Wolfsburg.

Nmecha made his debut back in January and has seen his market value drop from £3.6 million to £3.24 million in the last six months or so.

The central defender had been linked with a string of English sides but joined Boro on loan from St Etienne in January.

The 22-year-old has featured seven times since his debut in February, a period that has seen his value fall from £3.6 million to £2.88 million.

The Manchester United academy graduate arrived at the Riverside in 2018, joining from local rivals Sunderland.

Despite a relatively impressive display this term, adding five goals and one assist in a string of different roles, McNair's value has dropped from £2.7 million to £1.8 million since his debut in August 2018.

The midfielder joined Boro ahead of their return to the Championship in 2017 and has been an ever-present in the first-team since.

The 32-year-old's three years at the Riverside have seen his value fall from £3.6 million to £2.52 million.

The towering striker comes top of the list, with by far and away the biggest drop in value since his debut back in January 2017.

Gestede was valued at £6.30 million when he first appeared for Boro but that has fallen to just £720,000 in the three years since.
