Marcelo Bielsa has done a wonderful job so far at Leeds United, with the Argentinian improving a squad made up of last season’s struggling players.

Leeds oversaw over 20 departures in the summer, but brought in just six players, with their transfer window amongst the quietest in the Championship.

Thomas Christiansen and Paul Heckingbottom both failed last season, with Leeds eventually stumbling to 13th.

However, Bielsa has a similar squad looking ready for a promotion challenge, with Leeds unbeaten in their first six fixtures of the season.

The 63-year-old’s coaching has to be admired, with some players producing performances that were unimaginable last season.

It remains to be seen whether it can be maintained in the coming months, but as starts go, this one has been impressive.

With that in mind, we rank the THREE most improved players in Leeds’ squad from the season so far...

Berardi featured at both right-back and left-back last season, and he looked finished after a difficult year that saw him pick up three red cards.

However, Bielsa has moved Berardi to centre-back, with the Swiss defender impressing in his new role.

The 30-year-old will be missed after picking up an injury.

During his two years at Elland Road, Roofe has struggled to nail down a position.

However, Bielsa has transformed him into one of the Championship’s form strikers.

Leading the line, Roofe has returned four goals in six appearances, winning August’s Player of the Month award.

Klich was cast aside by Christiansen and sent out on loan in January.

His Leeds career looked over, but Bielsa has reintroduced him following Adam Forshaw’s injury, with the midfielder returning three goals already.

He’s also returned to the Polish national team for the first time in four years.
