Queens Park Rangers are going to be pleased with the way they are finishing this season with the second half of the campaign certainly one to give them cause for optimism.

Rangers have certainly been one of the form teams in the league since the turn of the year and they'll be aiming to use that as a springboard into next season where fans will want to see them challenging for promotion to the Premier League, via the play-offs at least.

Of course, there's lots of work to be done to ensure the squad is ready for that and they'll need to make sure they have a striker or two at the club that will get the goals needed to win plenty of games.

With that in mind, then, we've taken a look at ten strikers since the year 2000 that have done a good job during their time in west London...

Matt Smith kicks off our list with him making over 90 league apperances for the club between 2017 and 2019, scoring 21 league goals.

He was the club's top scorer in the 17/18 season with him bagging eleven times and he also set up another nine goals with his hold-up and link-up play particularly effective given his physical presence up front.

Indeed, he's never been a poacher type striker but certainly has plenty of good attributes for a centre-forward and showed that frequently during his time at Queens Park Rangers.

He joined Millwall in 2019 and has been there ever since, having played for the likes of Fulham and Oldham Athletic earlier in his career.

Loic Remy wasn't at the club long but showed his class during his time in west London with a big-money arrival soon paving the way for moves to Newcastle United and then Chelsea.

Indeed, his performances on his arrival saw the Magpies take him on loan and then the Blues signed him permanently though it was perhaps with United we saw him at his best in the Premier League.

He could have certainly scored a lot more for QPR had he remained at the club but it was always going to be hard for them to keep him.

Bobby Zamora may not have scored many during his days at QPR but he scored perhaps the most famous goal in QPR's modern history as he rattled home in the play-off final to send Rangers back to the Premier League.

He scored 12 goals in just over 80 league games during his time at the Hoops and that was obviously the best of the bunch as he sent the blue and white half of Wembley into raptures against Derby County.

A brief spell at Brighton and Hove Albion followed in 2015/16 before he hung up his boots having enjoyed a career at the top level having played for the likes of Spurs, Fulham and West Ham United as well as the R's and Brighton.

Dexter Blackstock scored 30 goals in 109 league games during his time at QPR which went from 2006 to 2009.

He was a hard-working forward and earned fans' praise for the way he put a shift in but also got goals for the club during his time in west London.

In 2009, he left for Nottingham Forest where he had another long spell, this time playing 164 league games between then and 2016 - scoring 41 league goals in the process.

A player that regularly ran himself ragged for the R's.

Heidar Helguson helped QPR into the top flight back in the 2010/11 season and though he was not top goal-scorer - he was behind Adel Taarabt that campaign - the forward still more than gave his all in that season and then in the following campaign in the Premier League.

He scored eight goals in 16 appearances in the top flight which is a very decent strike-rate and was widely respected at QPR for his work-rate and continued commitment.

He also enjoyed cult hero status at Watford during his time in England and is a player that will be fondly remembered there and at QPR.

Nahki Wells had a huge amount of fans at QPR and Hoops supporters were desperate to see him stay at the club on a permanent basis after a highly successful loan period at the club.

He was a real sharp shooter and livewire in the final third for Rangers, dovetailing nicely with Jordan Hugill under Mark Warburton.

However, Rangers couldn't afford a deal and Bristol City came in and took him on permanently last summer, with the Hoops then needing to find a replacement for his goals.

Across two loans he scored 20 league goals in 66 appearances for Rangers and proved a real hit.

Djibril Cisse had a rather decent strike rate at QPR, he just wasn't at the club for very long.

After two early red cards in his Hoops career he managed to tone things down a little bit and scored a very respectable nine goals from 26 league games in the Premier League, something that shouldn't be sniffed at given the level of opposition and, of course, the fact QPR were fighting for their lives.

He left the club in the winter transfer window of 2012/13 to go on loan to Al Gharafa and then left the club permanently via mutual consent at the end of that season.

He had goals in him, though, with six in eight coming at the end of the 11/12 season to help QPR avoid relegation that particular season.

Kevin Gallen had two significant spells at QPR with a brief interlude around the turn of the century as he turned out for Huddersfield and Barnsley in 2000 and 2001.

In his first spell at the club in the 90s he scored 36 goals in 172 league games whilst his second spell between 2001 and 2007 saw him score 54 league goals in 197 matches.

His second spell was a particularly productive one as he helped Rangers back into the second tier of English football and also skippered the side, with him going on to become the sixth-highest goal-scorer in the club's history by the time he was finished.

Paul Furlong is next up on our list with him scoring 52 goals across 162 league games for the club between 2002 and 2007.

Furlong actually joined Rangers on loan before then and hit three goals in nine games during two short-term spells with that paving the way for a more permanent move.

Indeed he certainly had a successful time of things during his time in west London with him helping them win promotion in the 2004 season.

It's a club close to his heart, too, with him growing up there as a kid and also now a coach with the u18s - whilst son Darnell made his senior debut for them too in 2015.

Charlie Austin simply had to be the man to top the list of the best strikers Queens Park Rangers have had since the year 2000.

The sharpshooting Austin has scored goals for a number of clubs including having successful spells with Swindon Town and Burnley but it's perhaps at QPR where he is loved most of all.

His arrival back at the club in January certainly improved spirits at the club and it's also helped their form pick-up no-end so there's obviously hope a deal can be done to keep him in west London next season - time will tell if it can be sorted.
