Millwall have had their fair share of players over the years that have made a positive impact at the club, with the forwards often gaining the plaudits.

The Lions have played in both League One and the Championship in the last 20 years, with some forwards making more of an impact than others.

Steve Morison was a familiar face that led the line for Millwall in his time with the club, whilst the likes of Neil Harris, Steve Claridge and Lee Gregory also played their part for the Lions.

They're currently sat ninth in the Championship table, and will be hoping they can finish this year's campaign strongly under the management of Gary Rowett.

We take a look at Millwall's top-ten best ever strikers since the year 2000, but do you agree with them?

Find out which player is in at number ten, on the next page....

Matt Smith is the first name on the list, with the Millwall forward scoring 19 goals in 77 appearances so far in his time at The Den.

Smith signed for the club in 2019, after previously playing for the likes of Leeds United, Fulham, Bristol City and QPR earlier in his career.

Smith hasn't always been a regular in the starting XI for Millwall, but has made a positive impact when stepping off the substitutes bench for the Lions.

He has scored five goals in 34 appearances in this year's campaign, with Gary Rowett's side currently sat ninth in the Championship table.

Chris Wood is ninth on the list for his impressive impact with the Lions in a relatively short space of time, whilst on loan from West Brom.

He signed for the club whilst they were playing their football in the Championship, having previously played for the likes of Brighton and Hove Albion, Bristol City and Birmingham City earlier in his career, whilst on loan from the Baggies.

Wood scored 11 goals in 19 appearances for the Lions in total, which certainly makes for impressive reading.

The striker went on to sign for Leicester City and Leeds United later down the line, but is now playing his football for Premier League side Burnley.

Barry Hayles is eighth on the list, with the former Lions striker scoring 16 goals in over 50 appearances for the club.

Hayles had impressive records with the likes of Stevenage and Bristol Rovers in the early stages of his professional career, before signing for Millwall in 2004 from Sheffield United.

His most notable contributions for Millwall were when he scored against local rivals West Ham United, whilst also scoring a hat-trick against Derby County, as the Lions finished tenth in the 2004/05 season.

Hayles went on to sign for Plymouth Argyle prior to the 2006/07 season, before scoring regularly in non-league football towards the final few years of his playing career.

Darren Byfield is seventh on the list, with the former Millwall forward scoring 16 goals in 34 appearances for the club.

He started his career with Aston Villa, before going on to play for the likes of Sunderland, Walsall and Gillingham, before signing for the club in 2006.

Byfield certainly made a positive impact with the Lions, although his stay at The Den was a brief one. He went on to sign for Bristol City after impressing for Millwall, before playing for the likes of Doncaster Rovers, Solihull Moors, before calling time on his playing career after a spell with non-league side Redditch United in 2017.

Byfield went on to manage the likes of Stratford Town, Walsall Wood and Alvechurch.

Darius Henderson is next up, with the Sutton-born forward signing for Millwall back in 2011.

Henderson had previously played for the likes of Reading and Watford, before signing for Millwall from Sheffield United, after impressing with the Blades in his three-year spell with the club.

The forward went on to score 26 goals in 56 appearances for the Lions, before going on to sign for Nottingham Forest on a short-term contract in January 2013.

Henderson played for Leyton Orient, Scunthorpe United and Coventry City towards the end of his playing career, before playing his final game in professional football for Eastleigh in 2017.

Gary Alexander is the first time in the top-five, with the former Millwall striker first signing for the club in 2007.

He arrived with an impressive record in front of goal with Leyton Orient, and made a positive impact in his time with the Lions.

Alexander was the club's top goalscorer in both the 2007/08 and 2008/09 season, before he departed in 2010, as he moved to Brentford.

He made a similar impact with the Bees, before going on to play for the likes of Crawley Town and Burton Albion later down the line, before calling time on his playing career in 2018.

Steve Claridge is next up, with the former Millwall forward catching the eye with some strong performances for the Lions.

Claridge signed for the club permanently in 2001, after impressing in a loan spell from Portsmouth in the previous season. The forward scored 18 times in his first season with the club, and went on to become the club's joint-top goalscorer in the following season.

But Claridge's spell with the club was a brief one though, as he went on sign for Weymouth in 2003. He then became Millwall's manager in 2005.

Claridge will be well-remembered for his spell in front of goal for Millwall, and earns his spot at number four on the list for the club's best-ever strikers.

Lee Gregory is the first name in the top-three, with the former Millwall man impressing during his spell with the club.

The 32-year-old first signed for the Lions in 2014, and went on to make 238 appearances for Millwall, whilst they were in both League One and the Championship.

He scored 76 goals in total for the club, although his most notable contribution is likely to be his assist for Steve Morison in the play-off final, as Millwall won promotion back into the Championship.

Gregory left the club in 2019, as he moved to Stoke City, although he's currently on loan at Championship strugglers Derby County.

Steve Morison is next on the list at number two, with the former Millwall man making a considerable impact in his time with the club.

He first signed for the club in 2009 after a spell with the likes of Bishop's Stortford and Stevenage, where he caught the eye with a number of strong performances in front of goal.

Morison replicated that form with the Lions, and scored 20 league goals in his first season with the club, as they won promotion into the Championship.

He left the club in 2009 as he moved to Norwich City. He then returned to Millwall in 2015, and fired Millwall back into the Championship, whilst scoring regularly for the club from then on.

Neil Harris is in at number one, with the former Millwall forward being the club's all-time top goalscorer.

Harris made over 250 appearances for the club, and scored 138 goals in total for the Lions, in a hugely impressive spell. The former Millwall man had two separate spells with the Lions, with his first lasting six years, as he went on to sign for Nottingham Forest in 2004.

He then returned to Millwall in 2007, and played a key role in the club's promotion-winning season in the 2009/10 campaign.

Harris moved to Southend United in 2011, before calling time on his playing career in 2013. He then returned to Millwall as the club's manager in 2015, although that spell reached a conclusion in 2019.
