Cardiff City have had their fair share of strikers over the years that have made a positive impact with the Bluebirds.

The likes of Robert Earnshaw, Michael Chopra and Kenwyne Jones are just some of the players that have been leading the line in recent years.

The club's days of playing their football in the Premier League might feel like a distant memory to some of their supporters, but they're still in with an outside chance of a top-six finish this term in the Championship.

Cardiff are currently sat eighth in the second-tier standings, and eight points adrift of the play-off positions heading into their match against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday afternoon.

Mick McCarthy will be looking for a positive response from his side, after they were thrashed 5-0 by relegation-threatened Sheffield Wednesday in their most recent match.

We look at Cardiff City's top-ten best ever strikers since the year 2000, but do you agree with them?

Kenwyne Jones is first on the list, with the former Cardiff City man first signing for the club in 2014.

He had previously been on the books with the likes of Sunderland and Stoke City, but moved to the Cardiff City Stadium in search of regular game time whilst they were in the Premier League.

But they were relegated back into the Championship in Jones' first season with the club. He did go on to impress for the Bluebirds in the Championship, which included scoring 13 goals in his first season with them in the second-tier.

Jones left the club in the summer of 2016, as he signed for American side Atlanta United, before calling time on his playing career just a year later.

Joe Mason is next up, with the former Cardiff City forward signing for the club in 2011, after a spell with Plymouth Argyle.

Mason went on to score 25 goals in 109 appearances for the Bluebirds, which included an impressive first season with Cardiff City.

After the Bluebirds won promotion into the Premier League in the 2012/13 season, Mason found regular game time hard to come by, and spent time out on loan with Bolton Wanderers.

He left the club in 2016, as Mason went on to sign for Wolves. The forward is now playing his football for League One side MK Dons.

Kieffer Moore is next up, with the current Cardiff City forward catching the eye with some impressive displays so far.

The Welshman has scored 16 goals in all competitions so far this season, and will be hoping he can continue to score goals on a regular basis for the club as they target a top-six finish in the Championship.

Mick McCarthy's side are currently sat eighth in the second-tier standings, and will be looking to put together a positive run of results from now until the end of this year's campaign.

Moore has been with the club since 2020, after catching the eye with some impressive displays whilst with Wigan Athletic.

Fraizer Campbell is eighth on the list, with the former Cardiff City forward signing for the club in 2013 after a spell with Sunderland.

He went on to score 16 goals in 52 appearances in all competitions for the Bluebirds, as they clinched promotion into the Premier League in his first season with them.

Campbell went on to showcase his talent in the top-flight, as he netted nine goals for Cardiff City, before departing in 2014.

He is now playing his football for Championship strugglers Huddersfield Town, where he has scored seven goals in all competitions this term.

Kenneth Zohore is next up, with the former Cardiff City forward scoring 24 goals in 101 appearances for the Bluebirds.

Zohore signed for the club ahead of the 2016/17 campaign, after an impressive loan spell in the previous season. Zohore played his part in the club's promotion-winning season in 2018.

But Zohore struggled to make a notable impact for the Bluebirds in the Premier League, before leaving in favour of a move to West Brom at the end of the 2018/19 campaign.

He has found regular game time with the Baggies hard to come by though, and is currently on loan with Championship side Millwall.

Ross McCormack is fifth on the list, with the Scotsman spending two full seasons with the club in total.

The forward scored 23 goals in his first season with the Bluebirds, as they finished seventh in the Championship table, as they narrowly missed out on a top-six finish.

He struggled to replicate that form in front of goal the following season, although they did finish fourth in the second-tier standings.

McCormack went on to sign for Leeds United in 2010, before going on to play for the likes of Fulham, Aston Villa, and most recently Aldershot Town.

Jay Bothroyd is fourth on the list, with the forward scoring 45 goals in his time with Cardiff City.

He first signed for the club in 2008, and went on to make 133 appearances in total for the Bluebirds, having previously been on the books with Coventry City, Charlton Athletic and Wolves.

But Bothroyd made a name for himself at Cardiff City, and scored goals on a regular basis with the club. Most notably, he scored 20 goals in 41 appearances in the 2010/11 season, as they missed out on promotion after a defeat in the play-offs.

He departed in the summer of 2011, after failing to agree a new contract with the Bluebirds.

Peter Thorne is the first name in the top-three, with the former Cardiff City forward scoring 38 goals in his time with the club.

Thorne formed an impressive strike partnership with Robert Earnshaw whilst with the Bluebirds, having originally signed for them in 2001 from Stoke City.

He spent four years with Cardiff City in total, before departing in favour of a move to Norwich City in 2005, having made over 100 appearances for the Bluebirds.

Thorne then went on to sign for Bradford City later down the line, before calling time on his career after a three-year spell with the Bantams in 2010.

Michael Chopra is second on the list, with the former Cardiff City man first signing for the club in 2006 from Newcastle United.

Chopra went on to score 22 goals in 44 appearances for the Bluebirds in his first spell with the club, as they finished 13th in the Championship table.

Chopra's impressive first season with the club didn't go unnoticed though, as he went on to sign for Sunderland a year later. But the forward returned to Cardiff for two separate loan spells, before re-joining them on a permanent basis in 2009.

Chopra helped Cardiff to two fourth-placed finishes in the Championship, although they were unable to win promotion into the Premier League in either play-off campaigns. He netted the opener in their 3-2 defeat to Blackpool in the 2009/10 season, as the Tangerines clinched promotion into the top-flight.

Robert Earnshaw is first on the list, with the former Cardiff City forward scoring 59 goals in 120 appearances for the club in total.

The Welsh international first signed for the club in 1997, and went on to force his way into the senior team in 1998. He was the club's top goalscorer in the 2002/03 and 2003/04 season, before departing in 2004, as he moved to West Brom.

Earnshaw went on to play for the likes of Norwich City, Derby County and Nottingham Forest, before re-signing for Cardiff City in 2011.

His second spell with the club wasn't as memorable as the first, and he left permanently in 2013. Earnshaw's services to the club will be fondly remembered by the Cardiff City supporters though.
