It's never boring being a Rotherham United fan, especially when you look at how many promotions and relegations the club have been through in the 21st century.

Recently the Millers have been the real yo-yo team between the Championship and League One, and there's every chance in the next few games they could be heading back to the third tier unless they can win some of their games in hand.

The club have done some decent business in recent years, and whilst they may never make millions on players, the New York Stadium is often a good place for younger players to develop their talents.

The likes of Daniel Barlaser, Matt Olosunde and Ben Wiles prove testament to that, and they're surrounded by the experience of the likes of Richard Wood and Shaun MacDonald who have done a lot in the Football League during their careers.

Which players market values have increased the most though according to transfermarkt? Let's take a look at the Millers' top 10!

Rotherham have an abundance of midfield talent in their squad, which is probably why Paul Warne changed his formation earlier this season to accommodate three of them and also wing-backs.

Lindsay is one of many in that engine room having swapped Ross County for Rotherham in 2019, and he arrived with a market value of £405,000.

53 league appearances in just shy of two seasons for the Millers has seen that rise a little bit to £630,000, and considering he's just 25 that value could increase in the next few seasons if he continues to be a regular at the New York Stadium.

Hirst's career hasn't probably panned out as expected so far, having been a highly-rated youngster at Sheffield Wednesday and he played for four different age groups for England.

He did swap the Owls for Leuven in Belgium in 2018 but that was just a pre-cursor to join Leicester City a year later, and when he joined Rotherham on a season-long loan in September he was expected to fire in goals and his market value, like Lindsay, sat at £405,000.

That hasn't happened though - Hirst has gone 28 Championship outings without scoring but somehow his transfermarkt value has increased to £720,000 - go and figure that one out...

Ladapo had a very low-key career until the year 2016, when he was picked up by Crystal Palace from non-league Margate after several spells at other clubs in the lower reaches of the game.

It didn't work out for the striker at Palace but after a prolific spell at Plymouth, Rotherham snapped up Ladapo for a club-record £500,000 fee in the summer of 2019, with his market value standing at £225,000.

Firing in 14 goals to help the Millers to promotion last season, Ladapo has stepped up to the Championship and netted nine times, which had led to his market value increasing to £540,000.

That probably still underrates the 28-year-old for his contributions and if Rotherham do get relegated you can expect a second tier club to try and snag Ladapo for at least double that figure.

After not making the grade at Manchester United, Olosunde found a new home at the other side of the Pennines in Rotherham, and he's certainly fit in nicely at the club.

Due to his lack of senior appearances in football at United, the wing-back arrived in South Yorkshire with no market value, but after two seasons of regular minutes that has risen to £360,000.

Olosunde is just 23 years old and there's no telling as to where his actual ceiling is, but if he continues to put in decent performances for Rotherham it could end up being at a bigger Championship club.

Despite not exactly making an impact at Rotherham since arriving in the summer, Sadlier is on this list because he had no market value when he arrived at the club.

The Irishman netted 11 times for Doncaster last season in League One and made the short move to the Millers, but he's struggled to break into Warne's plans.

He's had substitute appearances here and there but that's about it and his current value of £360,000 really reflects the season he's had - but he could end up making a big impact in League One should Rotherham go down and he sticks about.

Ihiekwe is one of the Millers' unsung heroes and he's grown to become quite a leader at the club, as evidenced by him captaining multiple games this season.

The 28-year-old didn't play much the first time around in the Championship, having joined in 2017 and helping the Millers into that division from League One (he is another player who had no market value with he signed), but this time around it has been different.

The centre-back has played 37 times in the current campaign and even if he's relegated again he's proven himself to be more-than capable at this level, and his market value of £405,000 is probably quite under-rating him.

Smith is one of those really unfashionable workhorse strikers that a lot of teams need to do the donkey work for the other players, and he'd spent the majority of his career in the lower two leagues of the EFL before joining Rotherham, where he had a market value of £180,000 in 2017.

Smith only had one double-figure league scoring season before his arrival, and after four seasons of trying this year he's finally cracked the 10-goal mark, proving that he's a useful asset to a Championship club and he knows where the back of the net is.

His current value of £630,000 is probably fair for a 29-year-old who isn't always prolific, but he's definitely proven his worth to Rotherham this season.

Crooks is a player who has experienced the lows of the lower league and the highs of playing for a giant like Rangers, but he's definitely found a home in Rotherham.

His spell at the Gers didn't work out for him which is why he ended up at Northampton, and in January 2019 Rotherham made their move when Crooks had a market value of £135,000.

He was clearly a player that far exceeded that figure though, and his nine League One goals last season proved that - he has six to his name in the Championship this season and the value has grown to £630,000, but you'd expect the club could get more for him than that should he want to remain in the second tier next season and Rotherham aren't there.

Wiles is an academy graduate so he had no market value before his debut, but despite that he's still one of the highest-valued players in the squad right now.

The 22-year-old has proven himself to be highly versatile this season, playing all across the midfield, at wing-back and even at left-back occasionally - a real jack of all trades.

His consistent performances for the Millers have seen Wiles obtain a value of £810,000 and that's a figure you'd imagine Millers fans would be highly disappointed in if they sold him for that - but they'll be hoping Wiles remains at the club for years to come.

After a successful loan spell last season in Yorkshire, Barlaser made a permanent move to Rotherham from Newcastle United in October to the delight of fans.

For some reason he did not have a market value when he first debuted for the club in 2019 - that's despite spending the whole of the previous season at Accrington Stanley - and he now sees himself valued at £1.62 million, the only permanent player at the club in seven figures.

Barlaser keeps things ticking in the middle of the park and if they do go down this season, Rotherham may feel resigned to losing the 24-year-old to another Championship club this summer.
