The play-offs may be out of reach but Gary Rowett will want his Millwall side to finish the season with a flourish.

Two top 10 Championship finishes in two years will be an impressive achievement for Rowett but the question remains over whether he can help the Lions take the next step.

His hopes of doing that could well hinge on whether or not he can keep his most valuable assets this summer, with the likes of Jed Wallace and Jake Cooper likely to be of interest to other clubs.

Millwall have got some fantastic players at the moment and if Rowett can continue to add quality to his squad, and in particular a consistent goalscorer, they could well launch a serious play-off charge next year.

We've been looking closely at the Lions current squad and particularly at how they've developed during their time at the Den.

With that in mind, we've ranked the 10 Millwall players who've had the biggest market value increases since their debuts, according to Transfermarkt...

One of the academy products that Millwall fans are most excited about right now, Billy Mitchell starts as off in joint-tenth.

The midfielder has just penned a new long-term deal at the club – showing just how highly he is rated in south London.

Mitchell came through the club's youth system and made his debut in May 2019, featuring in the 1-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic on the final day of the 2018/19 season.

According to Transfermarkt, his market value has risen by £225,000 since – fans will no doubt be hoping it continues to grow as he develops further.

Sharing tenth spot with Mitchell is Tom Bradshaw, whose first appearance for Millwall came while on loan from Barnsley in the 2018/19 campaign.

Clearly, he impressed enough during that spell to earn a permanent move to the club but it's not always been plain sailing since.

The forward has mustered just 14 goals and three assists in his 87 appearances for the south London club and has only played 817 minutes of Championship football this term.

Bradshaw's debut came in a 1-0 defeat to Rotherham United in August 2018 and, according to Transfermarkt, his market value has risen £225,000 since.

Murray Wallace could be set to leave for nothing this summer, with his current contract up at the end of the season and a new one yet to be signed.

That would bring to an end the Scotman's three-year stay at the Den – a period that has seen him notch up 100 appearances for the club.

Wallace joined from Scunthorpe United in the summer of 2018 and made his debut in a 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough on the opening day of the Championship season.

According to Transfermarkt, his value has risen £495,000 in the time since the draw with Boro.

The highest-placed Millwall academy product on this list, Ben Thompson came through the club's youth system before making his debut in 2014.

The midfielder has made 168 appearances since but struggled to really hold down a regular starting place in recent years.

It's been nearly seven years since he made his debut against Southampton in the Second Round of the EFL Cup and, according to Transfermarkt, his market value has increased by £720,000 since.

With his contract set to expire in the summer, Thompson could well be on the move this summer but the south London club won't get any compensation if he does.

The most recent debutant on this list, Mason Bennett first featured for Millwall while on loan from Derby County in February last year.

The south London club lost 1-0 to Wigan Athletic on that day, with Bennett unable to make the desired impact off the bench.

According to Transfermarkt, his market value has risen by £720,000 since.

The 24-year-old has now become a key part of Rowett's forward line and even signed a permanent deal at the Den after joining from the Rams last summer.

Supporters will be hoping that the best is yet to come from Bennett and that he can help them push for that much-coveted top six place next term.

Scott Malone's return to Millwall has certainly worked well for both him and the club.

The defender left the Den in January 2015 and joined on a season-long loan from Derby County last summer.

He's been a key player for the Lions since, with only Jed Wallace outscoring him this season, and it would be no surprise to see him become a permanent member of the squad in the summer.

His first spell at the club began in July 2012 when he signed from Bournemouth, with his debut coming a month later in an EFL Cup defeat to Crawley Town.

According to Transfermarkt, Malone's market value has increased by £1.13m since.

The second of three centre-backs on this list, Shaun Hutchinson's goal tally may be down this year but he's been no less effective defensively.

The defender has made 180 appearances since joining from Fulham in 2016 – becoming particularly important after Millwall's promotion back to the Championship.

Now 30, Hutchinson looks set to be a key part of the club's defensive line moving forward and is under contract until 2023.

He made his debut for the club in a 5-1 League One defeat to Peterborough United in August 2016.

According to Transfermarkt, Hutchinson's market value has gone up £1.35m since.

Mahlon Romeo has been a regular in the first team since his arrival from Gillingham on a free transfer five years ago.

The right-back has gone on to make more than 200 appearances during that time and can be regularly seen flying past Jed Wallace on the overlap.

The 25-year-old made his debut for the Lions in February 2016, helping them keep a clean sheet and scoring his first goal for the club as they beat Walsall 3-0 in League One.

According to Transfermarkt, Romeo's market value has risen by £1.62m since.

Jake Cooper was always likely to feature high on this list and number two feels like exactly the right spot.

Signing the towering defender from Reading in January 2017 has looked a masterstroke for a little while now and it'll look like even better business if he can help them reach the play-offs next term.

Cooper made his debut in a 1-1 draw with Bradford City in January 2017 and, according to Transfermarkt, the centre-back's market value has increased by £3.29m since.

Millwall fans will be hoping the club don't look to cash in anytime soon.

Just as it was no surprise to see Jake Cooper at number two, Jed Wallace being at the top of this list makes a huge amount of sense.

He's been brilliant in the five years since he made his debut for Millwall and proven a fantastic bit of business.

In total, the winger has scored 34 goals and added 38 assists for the south London club, and he's not done yet.

Wallace made his debut against Oldham Athletic in League One in January 2016, a game that the Lions won 2-1.

According to Transfermarkt, his market value has gone up £5.54m since!
