Blackpool’s Curtis Tilt has emerged as a transfer target for Rangers, who are looking at alternatives to Jake Cooper, having found their pursuit of the Millwall ace difficult this summer.

According to the Mirror’s live transfer blog (18/08, 11:29), Rangers have been watching Tilt closely, with the Blackpool defender watched in a recent pre-season friendly with Burnley.

Tilt, 26, has been with Blackpool for just 12 months, having joined them from Wrexham last summer.

During his first year at Bloomfield Road, Tilt made 45 appearances across all competitions, impressing in the heart of defence for Blackpool.

Blackpool value the defender at £1m, with Ipswich Town also interested.

Rangers are looking to bring a centre-back on board this summer, as Steven Gerrard shapes his squad ahead of his first year in management.

Millwall’s Cooper had been firmly on Gerrard’s radar, with Rangers looking to lure the defender to Scotland ahead of the new season.

However, Gers have found their pursuit of Cooper extremely difficult, with Millwall standing firm over the defender’s future.

Millwall rejected a £3m bid for Cooper’s service.

The Verdict

Rangers are clearly moving onto different targets now, with Tilt an option.

The 26-year-old is a good defender, who during his first year at Blackpool, did enough to stand out.

It remains to be seen whether he has enough about him to get Rangers where they want to be, but he could be a good alternative to Cooper.
