Leeds United have been given a big boost in their pursuit for former player Kyle Bartley with the centre-back telling Swansea he wants to join the Yorkshire club.

That's the latest according to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay who shared the news on social media this morning.

He revealed how Bartley has told the Welsh club he wants to leave in the summer and that Leeds would be his number one destination.

Additionally, the Swans are prepared to sell for the right price which would appear to be the only stumbling block for a deal for Leeds.

Although, there is sure to be interest from elsewhere in the 26-year old with Hay reporting that another of Bartley's former clubs, Glasgow Rangers, are also interested in the defender.

Bartley was a key figure for Leeds last year under Garry Monk after joining on a season-long loan. He was made captain of the side and formed a superb partnership with Pontus Jansson that was the base for a serious play-off push for the Whites.

The Verdict

This is great news for Leeds United as everyone knows just how good Bartley is at this level.

Obviously, a deal still has to be agreed but it's a major boost that the player wants to join and the board need to do all they can to get this deal over the line.

After a poor season, Leeds need a productive summer and quality additions to arrive and Bartley would be an excellent start.
