Norwich City have confirmed via the club’s official website that Glenn Middleton has left Carrow Road, with the youngster linking up with Rangers in the Scottish Premiership on a permanent deal.

Middleton has left Carrow Road for Ibrox, with Norwich ensuring that the deal for the teenager has a sell-on clause, entitling the Canaries to money from any future transfers.

The 18-year-old has failed to make a senior appearance for Norwich during his time at Carrow Road, but was selected as an unused substitute last season in an FA Cup clash with Southampton.

So far this season, Middleton has made 12 appearances in the Premier League 2, scoring three goals and assisting a further two.

Daniel Farke has so far overlooked Middleton for first-team selection, who now departs on a permanent contract, with Ibrox his destination.

Middleton has gone to Ibrox in search of regular first-team football under Graeme Murty, who currently has Rangers sitting second in the Scottish Premiership table.

Despite sitting second only to Celtic, Rangers are 14 points adrift of their Old Firm rivals, with a shot at the title looking almost impossible.

The Verdict

For Middleton, there seemed no chance of him earning a break at Carrow Road, with Farke yet to hand the 18-year-old any kind of involvement.

The teenager has previously worked with Murty at youth level, and linking back up with him at Ibrox could be a good career move.

Middleton needs regular football at Ibrox.
