Scottish Premiership side Rangers have made an offer to sign Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas, according to reports from the Bristol Post.

The 26-year-old was one of many standout performers for Bristol City last season, making 41 appearances for the Robins after arriving on loan from Stamford Bridge.

The central defender formed a solid defensive partnership with Adam Webster for a large majority of the campaign, as Lee Johnson's side narrowly missed out on a place in the Sky Bet Championship play-off places.

After an impressive spell at Ashton Gate, the Robins are believed to be keen on re-signing Kalas in the summer, this time on a permament basis, with Hull City also understood to be keen on him.

However, it is also believed that Kalas has an offer on the table from Rangers, with the central defender looking set to leave Chelsea this summer after a turbulent time at the London club.

Kalas isn't expected to make a decision on his future until he returns from international duty with the Czech Republic, who play Bulgaria and Montenegro in the Euro 2020 qualifiers this week.

The Verdict

I think that Kalas would be a very good signing for Rangers should they win the race for him this summer.

He's at an age where he is entering his prime years, and he has established himself as a really solid defender in the Championship.

He has only made four senior appearances for Chelsea over the last nine years too, so he's likely to be available at a bargain price this summer.
