Birmingham City are still in big danger of being relegated this season and Garry Monk will be hoping to guide his side to safety in the last remaining games.

It has been another difficult season for the Blues, who keep narrowly surviving the drop year after year.

But given their summer of spending, bringing in the likes of Jota, David Stockdale and Marc Roberts, Birmingham fans expected a lot more from their team this year and were hoping to push for promotion rather than be stuck in another battle at the foot of the table.

Next season, they will harbour similar hopes of competing at the top end of the Championship as opposed to being down the bottom all season.

To do this, Birmingham need to have a strong summer window and get their business done early.

Here are three players they should look to make enquiries about before the window opens.

With Sam Gallagher heading back to Southampton, Birmingham need another forward to partner Lukas Jutkiewicz.

Rangers star Alfredo Morelos could be a top, top signing if the Blues show some ambition and make a bid for him.

The 21-year-old Colombian has 29 goals in 51 games for Rangers and would surely reproduce that form in England and only improve as he gets older and more experienced.

Coventry have produced some fantastic players recently with Cyrus Christie, Callum Wilson and James Maddison just three examples of stars coming out of the Sky Blues' academy.

And the latest wonder-kid at the Ricoh Arena is Tom Bayliss, who was interesting Derby, Chelsea and Tottenham in January.

The 19-year-old has three goals in 26 appearances for Coventry this season and is able to play as a central midfielder or as a winger.

Birmingham should act quickly and tempt Bayliss across the West Midlands to St Andrew's with the offer of first team football straight away for the future star.

Marcus Maddison would add a creative spark to the Birmingham midfield.

The Peterborough star has picked up a remarkable 21 assists this season, as well as 10 goals, to fire his team to play-off contention.

But if Posh do not win promotion, surely the 24-year-old is going to move to the Championship and Birmingham would be a fantastic destination for the exciting attacking midfielder.
