Jackie McNamara has revealed that he believes that Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara has what it takes to fit into Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds United side.

The Championship side are one of a handful of clubs who have been linked with the 24-year-old in recent weeks with Rangers boss Steven Gerrard reportedly bracing himself for January offers.

Speaking to Football Insider on Tuesday evening, former Celtic defender Jackie McNamara said that the midfielder would have no problem fitting in at the Yorkshire club having demonstrated great energy and dynamism at Ibrox during 2019.

After joining the Gers in January from Dundee, the 24-year-old has since made 36 appearances for the Scottish giants.

On Tuesday evening McNamara told Football Insider that: "There really should not be any problems for Kamara working under Bielsa, who is known for demanding an incredible amount from his players in terms of stamina and energy, if he were to make the move from Rangers to Leeds United."

When asked whether Kamara has what it takes to play under Bielsa, McNamara said: "Yeah, definitely. I think he’s done well at Rangers anyway, time will tell if it’s the right one, the right move, and if he’s good enough for Leeds."

The 24-year-old has played four of Rangers' last five league games and has so far featured in all of Rangers' Europa League group games.

Should Rangers be tempted to let the midfielder leave Ibrox in January it will be for reportedly around £8M-£10M, resulting in a great return on the midfielder for what the club paid for him from Dundee.

The Verdict

Kamara is clearly winning the plaudits in Scotland and his energetic performances at Rangers do demonstrate that he would have the capabilities to fit into Leeds' side.

What my worry would be is that Bielsa likes to stick with what he knows, and if Kamara was to arrive at Elland Road in January I can't see him having to much game time as it would be too hard to suggest who he would replace.

He is clearly a midfielder with talent and the fact Rangers feel confident enough to command a high fee for him speaks volumes, if he were to join the fold at Elland Road he may well have the ability to fit into the side but would have to be patient for his chance.
