Multiple EFL clubs are targeting a move for Cameron Humphreys this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, the likes of Bournemouth, Stoke City and Sheffield United are all monitoring the former Manchester City player’s situation.

The three Championship clubs will all face competition from Rangers, with the 23-year old currently available as a free agent.

Humphreys’ contract with Belgian outfit Zulte Waregem has run its course, leaving the defender free to discuss his future with prospective new clubs.

The centre-back graduated through the Man City academy and has featured for the England underage sides at U19 level.

Humphreys spent three seasons in Belgian football, playing 55 times and helping his side to 9th, 10th and 16th place finishes.

However, it now appears that a move back to Britain is most likely.

Bournemouth are hoping to add three new defenders to the side, so will be looking to make Humphreys the first of those.

The defender’s Man City career never quite took off despite appearing in a pre-season friendly against Real Madrid at only 16-years old in 2015.

He has still come into his own as a professional footballer by going abroad to gain senior level experience.

The Verdict

The move to go to Belgium looks to have worked out perfectly for Humphreys if he can secure a move back to British football this summer.

He will have learned a lot in his time becoming a valued member of the Zulte Waregem side.

That experience will now be why there are four clubs chasing his signature.

Bournemouth gaining Premier League promotion will make them the obvious attraction, but he may fancy earning greater playing time elsewhere.
