Rangers are refusing to give up in their pursuit of Millwall defender, Jake Cooper, with a new bid imminent from the Scottish giants in January when the transfer window reopens according to the Daily Express.

The Gers had made a series of bids for the towering centre-back but Millwall stood firm and knocked back all of the approaches for Cooper.

Cooper has been ever-present in the Millwall team this season and is yet to miss a minute of action for the Lions who are facing a relegation dogfight this season.

Millwall are currently in the relegation zone on goal difference and they have a real fight on their hands to keep hold of their star man, who has impressed throughout this season.

It's no surprise to see the 23-year-old attracting interest as he already has three goals, and an eye-opening six assists to his name this season.

There have also been rumours that Cooper has a relegation release clause in his contract which is more than likely to be activated by a higher club if the Lions are to drop into League One.

So, Millwall fans have a nervous wait in the January transfer window, as they battle to keep hold of Cooper amid renewed interest from Rangers, but they will be hoping he can steer the club clear from their relegation troubles when they take on Hull City this weekend.

The Verdict:

I'm not surprised in the slightest.

Cooper has been a rare bright spark in a disappointing season so far for Millwall and he could certainly be playing at a higher level, and has already showcased that with his impressive contributions at the other end of the pitch.

If he is to leave in January, then it's vital that Millwall find a replacement for their star man, and quickly.

Otherwise they will be one of the main candidates to be relegated from the Championship this season.
