According to an exclusive report by Football Insider, Glasgow Rangers are ready to offer Wes Foderingham a new deal to ward off interest from Nottingham Forest.

Wes Foderingham is a target for Nottingham Forest as the Reds search for a new goalkeeper before the transfer window slams shut.

Football Insider revealed earlier this month that Nottingham Forest were ready to raid Rangers and land Foderingham.

Mark Warburton was the former manager of Rangers and Nottingham Forest's Director of Football, Frank McParland, was also with Warburton at Ibrox.

Having already signed Barrie McKay this window, Warburton was aiming to reunite with Wes Foderingham at The City Ground.

Nottingham Forest's current number one is Jordan Smith and Dimitar Evtimov is sitting on the bench.

Former West Ham and Charlton stopper Stephen Henderson is also on their books but out injured and Vladimir Stojkovic is set to leave on a free transfer.

Nottingham Forest are therefore weighing up their other goalkeeping options and Wes Foderingham is seen as a major target.

However, Rangers are desperate to keep the 26-year-old and are preparing to offer him a new deal, even though there are two years left on his current contract.

This new deal supposedly involves a major pay rise to fend off Nottingham Forest's interest in the former England under-19 international.

The Verdict

Nottingham Forest's approach for Wes Foderingham made sense; they are looking for a new goalkeeper and the 26-year-old knows Warburton well.

With just shy of 100 appearances for Rangers under his belt, Foderingham is entering the prime of his career with plenty of experience.

This is why Rangers are so desperate to keep him and a new contract is likely to price Nottingham Forest out of the deal.

This transfer now hinges on whether Foderingham wants to stay at Ibrox or move back to England.
