Stoke City could have been given a boost in their potential attempts to bring in Jordan Jones from Rangers, with the Scottish giants ready to offload the winger before the end of window, according to the Daily Record.

Michael O’Neill will be aiming to bring in some extra attacking reinforcements before the end of the transfer window, with the Northern Irishman having already added Jordan Thompson to his side from Blackpool this month – and the Potters have been linked with a potential move for Jones alongside fellow Championship side Middlesbrough, according to the Daily Record.

Jones has found game time limited at Rangers in the Scottish Premiership so far this campaign, although the winger has managed to make an impression for the Scottish side in the Europa League making five appearances and helping Steven Gerrard’s progress through to the knockout rounds.

Do you know where these 15 ex-Stoke City players are playing now?

The 25-year-old has worked with O’Neill before with the Northern Ireland national team, and it is now thought that Rangers would be willing to allow the winger to leave the club before the end of Deadline Day as Gerrard looks to trim the numbers in his squad.

The verdict

This will be a real boost to the Potters’ prospects of bringing Jones to the club before the end of the window, with the Northern Irishman needing to add to his options in the wide positions to offer competition for places for Tom Ince, James McClean and Thibaud Verlinden.

O’Neill clearly knows all about the qualities that Jones could potentially bring to the Potters, and the winger’s direct running and ability to commit defenders in the final third could be a real useful option for Stoke as they look to continue their recent improvements.

Jones’ move to Rangers has not worked out for whatever reason, after he was singed by the club following a string if impressive performances for Kilmarnock, and it looks like it will be the best option for both parties if he secures a move away before deadline day.

It will be interesting to see now whether Stoke make the move to sign Jones, with Rangers clearly now prepared to listen to potential offers that come their way for the winger, and the Potters might need to act swiftly if other clubs have also been alerted to his situation.
