Peterborough United striker Jack Marriott is attracting interest from a raft of clubs, according to Sky Sports News.

Sky sources understand that Scottish Premiership giants Rangers are keen on Marriott but they face competition from Championship duo Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday.

The 23-year-old has caught the eye of plenty of admirers this season with his impressive goal scoring antics in League One.

Marriott has led the Peterborough attack, scoring a remarkable 33 times in all competitions, including 27 goals in League One to take the golden boot in the division.

The former Ipswich Town academy graduate only joined Posh last summer from Luton Town but they face a real battle to keep him at the club as he wants to play football at a higher level.

Peterborough finished just shy of the play-offs in League One and are likely to lose Marriott, alongside impressive attacking midfielder Marcus Maddison.

Rangers, who are looking to transform under new manager Steven Gerrard, are interested in signing Marriott this summer to compete with Alfredo Morelos up top.

Nottingham Forest need a new striker with Apostolos Vellios on his way out, Ben Brereton struggling to find his best form in front of goal and Daryl Murphy getting older.

Sheffield Wednesday have a host of strikers up front but a summer clear-out could open up some vacancies.

The Verdict

There is no doubting that Marriott knows where the net is and after proving his worth at League Two and League One level, it is time he made the step-up.

With 33 goals in all competitions last season, you would imagine that the young forward would have no trouble continuing to find the net at a higher level.

Marriott would be an excellent signing for any of these three clubs as they look to move up to the next level.
