Scottish Premiership side Rangers have made an approach to sign Liverpool midfielder Herbie Kane on loan for the 2019/20 season, according to reports from Football Insider.

The 20-year-old endured a hugely impressive loan spell on loan with League One side Doncaster Rovers last season, scoring seven goals and producing 10 assists in all competitions for Grant McCann's side.

After helping Donny reach the League One play-off semi-finals last term, it looks as if another loan move could be in the offing for the Liverpool midfielder, who is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Reds.

Goal claim that Charlton Athletic, Brentford and Hull City are interested in taking the box-to-box midfielder on loan next season - the latter are now managed by McCann.

But Football Insider now claim that Rangers have made an approach to land Kane on loan, having already signed Joe Aribo from Charlton this summer.

Steven Gerrard is believed to be a keen admirer of Kane, having worked closely with the 20-year-old during his time as manager of the Liverpool under-18's side.

The Verdict

A move to Rangers could be a perfect choice for Kane, who will be looking forward to another loan spell away from Anfield last season.

The loan switch to Doncaster worked wonders for the midfielder last season - he is at an age where he needs regular game-time, and Donny gave him the freedom to express himself on the pitch.

Gerrard knows how much of a good player Kane is, and playing for a massive club like Rangers in front of a big crowd at Ibrox could really help him develop even more as a player.

Ryan Kent was influential for the Gers last term, and Kane could definitely follow in his footsteps.
