Rangers have rejected a bid in the region of £10m from West Bromwich Albion for striker Alfredo Morelos, according to reports from the Daily Record.

The 23-year-old has been a major success since his move to Ibrox from HJK Helsinki in 2017, scoring 52 goals in a total of 96 appearances for the Scottish Premiership side.

The Colombian forward has already scored four goals in five games in all competitions this season, and his form for Steven Gerrard's side over the last year or two has attracted the interest of plenty of high-profile clubs.

Now, it is claimed that West Brom are heavily interested in the fiery attacker, but their £10m approach for the prolific forward has been knocked back by the Gers.

Morelos still has four years left on his contract at Ibrox, and Gerrard's side will look to keep him as they look to close the gap on Celtic this season.

The Baggies are keen to bring in another forward before today's deadline at 5pm, having lost both Jay Rodriguez and Dwight Gayle in the summer, who scored 46 goals between them last season.

Southampton forward Charlie Austin is believed to be on the Baggies radar, as they look to bring in a strike partner for Kenneth Zohore before this afternoon's deadline.

The Verdict

I think that Morelos could have been an excellent signing for West Brom, although it very much looks like they will be moving on now.

He's a fiery, pacey, hungry striker who has scored goals for fun in the SPFL, and it's hard to put into words how important he is to Steven Gerrard and Rangers.

He does have quite an aggressive temperament at times, but sometimes you need that in a centre-forward, a bit of fire in the belly.
