Rangers have announced that Jake Hastie has left the club to join Rotherham United on a season-long loan deal.

Hastie only joined the club at the start of the summer transfer window, but evidently isn't in Steven Gerrard's plans for this year's league campaign.

The youngster joined the Scottish giants from Motherwell, after catching the eye with a number of impressive performances.

He links up with a Rotherham side that will be hoping to return to the Championship at the first time of asking, following their relegation last season.

Hasite will be keen to hoping that he can impress out on loan with Paul Warne's side, and if he can do that, then he could be a player with a bright future ahead of him at Rangers.

The Millers are currently sat 13th in the League One table, and will be hoping they keep themselves within touching distance of the automatic promotion places this term.

Hastie could be in line to make his debut for Rotherham at the weekend, when they take on Doncaster Rovers in what will be a tough test for the Warne's men.

The Verdict:

This is the best move for both parties involved.

Hastie isn't anywhere near the Rangers starting XI at this moment in time, and the club are making the right decision to move him out on loan this season.

If he can hit the ground running and play his part in Rotherham's promotion bid, then I think he'll provide Steven Gerrard with a welcome selection dilemma in next year's league campaign.

Only time will tell as to whether this is a good move, but if the Millers give him regular game time, then they'll be rewarded with a number of impressive performances from the youngster.
