Scottish giants Rangers have opened negotiations with Brentford regarding their director of football Robert Rowan, according to the Daily Mail.

After a turbulent couple of weeks at Rangers which saw Mark Warburton and his staff reportedly resign which was then disputed by Warburton and his staff, Rangers are attempting to resume to normality.

As part of the backroom restructuring process, Brentford director of football Robert Rowan has been identified as a potential target for the director of football role.

The two clubs have entered negotiations before as Mark Warburton left Brentford to join Rangers, Robert Rowan could be the next to follow in Warburton's footsteps to make the switch north of the border.

With vast experience of Scotland as a former Celtic scout and the technical scout of the Scottish Football Association, the move would make sense.

However, as Rowan has agreed a new deal to extend his stay at Brentford, Rangers may face serious difficulty prising him away from the Championship side even though negotiations have begun.
