Warburton looks to players in the Football League as he plans an overhaul of his Rangers squad

The Glasgow club have recently appointed former Brentford boss Mark Warburton as manager following his departure from Griffin Park at the end of the season, and he’s set to raid the Football League as he plans an overhaul of his squad.

Tavernier, a 23-year-old right back, only joined the Latics last summer from Newcastle United after several loan spells away from the Magpies, but again struggled for a place at the DW Stadium, eventually moving on loan to Bristol City.

Waghorn, a 25-year-old striker, joined from Leicester City on an initial loan spell before making the move permanent in 2014, and has scored seven goals in 29 appearances during his time at the club.

Following the club’s relegation to League One, both players could be shipped out during the new era at the club, and could link up with former teammate Rob Kiernan, if Rangers step up their interest.

Wigan fans… What do you make of this news? Would Waghorn and Tavernier be good assets in League One? Let us know in the comments below.
