According to Football Insider, Rangers have flatly rejected a bid from Wigan Athletic for their forward star Josh Windass.

The Latics are flying at the moment in League One and look as though they could be back in the Championship come the end of this season.

They'll be looking to strengthen their squad as much as they possibly can in January, then, but it looks as though they won't be able to call on Windass.

The forward has been in good form of late for the Gers as they look to try and shrink the gap as much as they can to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.

Indeed, they face the Bhoys in the latest installment of the Old Firm this weekend and Windass will be eager to see his side take all three points from their arch rivals.

Fans of the Ibrox side, meanwhile, will hope this story does not impact their side's concentration too much whilst Wigan also face an important game against Charlton this weekend.

The window will open soon after, too, but it would seem that Windass will not be on the move for the very moment at least.

The Verdict

A few weeks ago, Rangers might have been more open to letting Windass go but he has been in good form in recent weeks.

They'll surely want to keep hold of him at the moment, then, and so Wigan had better look elsewhere.
