Scottish Premiership side Rangers are interested in signing Norwich City defender Timm Klose in the summer, according to reports from the Sun on Sunday (28/04, page 59).

Steven Gerrard has already launched a swoop on another Championship side this month, with Greg Stewart set to join from Birmingham City on a free transfer, and now the former Liverpool man looks set to raid Norwich for their defender.

Klose was a regular for Norwich in the first half of the campaign, but found it hard to get reclaim his place in Daniel Farke's side after a spell on the sidelines with injury, due to the impressive form of Ben Godfrey.

The Switzerland international, who hasn't made a league start for the Canaries since New Year's Day, has made over 110 appearances for the Norfolk club since his move from Wolfsburg in 2016.

But reports have now emerged, claiming that Rangers are interested in landing the experienced defender in the summer, who is believed to be out of contract at Carrow Road in the summer.

It is understood that Norwich are keen to keep hold of the 30-year old beyond this season, although Gerrard is keen to speak to the promotion-winning defender regarding a move to Ibrox.

Norwich secured promotion to the Premier League on Saturday evening, with a 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers.

The Verdict

It has been a mixed season for Klose - he has been one of Norwich's standout performers over the last year or so, but has been out of the team thanks to the form of Christoph Zimmermann and Godfrey.

At 30 years of age, he still has plenty more still to offer, and I think Norwich would be reluctant to let him leave.

But Rangers are a massive club, and a figure like Steven Gerrard has the ability to attract Klose to Ibrox.
