Rangers are hopeful of landing Peterborough's Gwion Edwards on a pre-contract deal in January, although there will be a host of clubs interested in the wide man.

That's according to Football Insider who claim the Glasgow giants will hope to finalise a deal for the talented 25-year-old in the winter window as he would have just six months left on his contract then.

As he would be moving country, the Scottish side are able to discuss a deal with Edwards in January and could sign him up ahead of English sides who would have to wait until next summer.

However, there could many twists and turns before then with several Championship sides linked with the player and the report states that The Posh have already rejected an offer from a second-tier side.

The former Crawley Town man has been at Peterborough for two seasons and impressed significantly in the past 12 months with his delivery and quality on the ball from the right flank, as well as weighing in with seven goals and five assists.

The Verdict

This would be a very good move for Rangers, even if they will have to wait another year until they see him in Glasgow.

The winger has stood out in League One and is unlikely to renew his deal with Peterborough.

It will still be tough for Rangers to finalise the deal in January but they will hope the probability of European football and the chance to play for such a big club will appeal to the player.
