Rangers could look to make a move for out-of-favour Sheffield Wednesday striker Jordan Rhodes who looks set to depart the Yorkshire club this summer.

The striker has seriously struggled at Hillsborough since making a big-money move from Middlesbrough in 2017. He has managed just eight league goals in 51 appearances in that time.

And, the Yorkshire Post reveal that the Scotland international has been linked with a move to the Glasgow giants who will be managed by Steven Gerrard next season.

The Liverpool legend has already made moves in the transfer market, securing Scott Arfield and Allan McGregor as he looks to reshape a Rangers squad that finished third in the Scottish Premiership.

His biggest task will be to catch rivals Celtic who secured a double treble this season which included several big wins over their city rivals.

For Rhodes, he found himself on the bench for the majority of the campaign for the Owls and is unlikely to feature much next season for the Championship side under manager Jos Luhukay.

The Verdict

Whilst Rhodes has underperformed for Wednesday, there's no doubt he is a good goalscorer and he should get a lot of chances for a side like Rangers.

Therefore, he would be a good signing although the obvious issues are whether they can afford him as the striker is sure to be on a big salary.

For the Owls, they will be desperate to get rid and that may mean they agree to paying a portion of his wages which may be the best outcome for all parties.
