Glasgow Rangers are considering a move for Curtis Tilt after growing frustrated at their pursuit of Millwall defender Jake Cooper, according to The Scottish Sun.

Rangers are desperately trying to bring in another centre-half this summer after Bruno Alves departed to join Serie A side Parma.

Cooper had been Steven Gerrard's top target and they have submitted a £3m bid for the Millwall star.

But the Lions, who are desperate to keep the 23-year-old, have not yet responded and are trying to resist any bids.

With Rangers growing frustrated at the lack of progress with this deal, they have drawn up a list of alternatives.

Blackpool star Tilt is on that list, although the Tangerines are hoping to receive at least £1m for the 6ft 3in giant this summer.

The 26-year-old only has a year remaining on his contract at Blackpool and Ipswich Town have already seen a £550k bid rejected.

Whether Rangers firm up their interest with a concrete bid remains to be seen and they are still waiting to hear back from Millwall about Cooper.

The Verdict

Tilt is a solid defender at League One level and could be playing higher.

I imagine that he would be very interested in the opportunity to join a big club like Rangers, too.

Cooper would be a superb addition too and although £3m seems steep, he is already an experienced and physical defender at such a young age.
