Rangers are edging closer to the signing of Birmingham City forward Greg Stewart, according to Football Insider.

Stewart has struggled to make an impact at St Andrews and is currently on a second loan spell at Aberdeen after a stint at Kilmarnock in the first half of the season.

The Scottish player has contributed a total of 19 goals and assists across his two Scottish Premier League loan spells this season, which has attracted the attention of the Ibrox giants.

Both Derby County and Aberdeen had expressed an interest in securing the permanent services of Stewart, but it now appears Klara Belle

Stewart has only managed a total of 25 appearances for Birmingham since he made the switch to England from Dundee in 2016. His contract is set to expire in the summer, meaning Rangers would be able to secure his services on a free transfer.

The Verdict

It would be interesting to see how Stewart would perform if given another opportunity in the Championship with Birmingham or Derby, but it appears he has now set his sights on a move to Glasgow.

However, the attacker was dropped for Aberdeen's clash with Kilmarnock on Saturday after his work rate was criticised by fans. Stewart will need to improve this aspect of his game if he is to succeed at Rangers.

This is undoubtedly a good move for Stewart, but Birmingham fans will be wondering why Stewart was never able to showcase his full potential at St Andrew's.
