Rangers are closing in on the potential signing of Liverpool winger, Ryan Kent on a season-long loan deal according to the Scottish Sun.

Kent spent last season on loan at Ibrox, and he’s evidently made a good impression on manager, Steven Gerrard.

The Gers boss will be keen to conduct his transfer business sooner rather than later, and is seemingly wasting no time in drawing up a list of potential targets over the summer.

Kent made 27 appearances in his time with the club last season, and scored six goals, as Rangers finished second in the Scottish Premiership.

But they faced a battle to land his signature for another season, with Football Insider reporting that Leeds United were also interested in a potential deal for the 22-year-old.

The Whites are certainly in need of further depth in attacking areas, with Jack Harrison returning to Manchester City, as well as Jack Clarke continuing to be linked with a move away from Elland Road.

But this latest report from the Scottish Sun, hints that Kent is likely to sign along the dotted line at Rangers for another season.

Supporters will be keen to see the best of him again in next year’s campaign, as they look to put an end to Celtic’s dominance on the domestic front in recent years.

Kent will be keen to showcase his exciting talent as well, as he’ll be wanting to make a good impression on Steven Gerrard, as well as Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp.

The Verdict:

This will be a really good signing by Rangers, but will be a frustrating blow for Leeds.

Kent is a player who really impressed me last season, and he will have been a strong option to have in Marcelo Bielsa’s squad.

I think Leeds will regret not furthering their interest in him, but they’ll have plenty of alternatives to turn to ahead of next year’s campaign.
