Rangers could face competition for Plymouth Argyle's Sonny Bradley with Barnsley keen on bringing the defender back to Yorkshire.

The 26-year old's contract is up in the summer and he has been linked with a host of clubs including the likes of Charlton, Bolton and Hearts along with the Glasgow giants.

And, the Yorkshire Post have revealed how Barnsley are also interested in the former Portsmouth man who enjoyed a fine campaign with Argyle.

The League One side are desperate to keep the powerful centre-back and have offered him a new deal, however the report states that Bradley is weighing up his options.

As well as that, they add the Hull-born defender is keen on returning up north and that could give the Tykes and advantage over their rivals when it comes to securing his signature.

Bradley played 44 games for Derek Adams' men as they won promotion from League Two last season, whilst he played 40 games in the campaign that has just finished.

In that time he has scored 11 league goals for the team.

The Verdict

The Plymouth defender had a fine season for Argyle and it's inevitable that there would be a lot of interest given he is available on a free.

It seems a tough task for the League One side to keep him at Home Park given the level of clubs interested in signing him.

Barnsley will hope the chance to move near his hometown in Hull could be the decisive factor and he would be a big addition as they look to bounce back to the Championship straight away.
